Reading material

When allowed to choose his own books, this one is a favorite. He plays Socrates with his animals.

I believe Sam was unsatisfied with all the pedestrian reading material in his room. That's why he had to search shelves elsewhere. 

Here we see him looking for something interesting to take to bed with him. First he grabbed the Webber instructions-cum-cookbook. But he clearly felt that he needed something meatier (ha ha), so he chose the "Complete Wine Course" in the end. Josh and Jen are neither teetotalers nor Puritans, so they are perfectly comfortable with Sam starting his enological education early.
